Understanding your identity in Christ is very important in living your Christian life. After experiencing new life by faith, you have been made a new person spiritually! You have the same skin, the same face, the same body, but spiritually, you are a “new you”! Consider the following five verses in the Bible that help you to understand your new identity.

  1. You’re Alive! Ephesians 2:1-2 (NKJV) “And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience.”
  2. You’re a Saint! 1 Corinthians 1:2-3 (NKJV) “To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all who in every place call on the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.”
  3. You’re God’s Workmanship! Ephesians 2:10 (NKJV) “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”
  4. You’re Righteous! Romans 5:17 (NKJV) “For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.”
  5. You’re Accepted by God! Ephesians 1:6 (NKJV) “To the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He has made us accepted in the Beloved.”

It’s important to see yourself as God sees you! By faith, your life will continue to grow in Jesus gracefully.
