Angels are fascinating created beings.  They are not God. They are not to be worshipped.  Yet God uses them in some unique and incredible ways.

Consider these eleven New Testament truths about angels.

  1. Children have personal angels.

Matt 18:10 (NLT) “Beware that you don’t despise a single one of these little ones. For I tell you that in heaven their angels are always in the presence of my heavenly Father.

2. Angels do not marry.

Matt 22:30 (NLT) For when the dead rise, they won’t be married. They will be like the angels in heaven.

3. Angels rejoice over every sinner who repents.

Luke 15:10 (NLT) In the same way, there is joy in the presence of God’s angels when even one sinner repents.”

4. The devil can transform himself into an angel of light.

2 Cor 11:14 (NLT) But I am not surprised! Even Satan can disguise himself as an angel of light.

5. God makes His angels ministers of fire.

Heb 1:7 (NLT) God calls his angels “messengers swift as the wind, and servants made of flaming fire.”

6. Angels are spirits who minister to believers.

Heb 1:14 (NLT) But angels are only servants. They are spirits sent from God to care for those who will receive salvation.

7. Some angels sinned and were cast down into chains of darkness.

2 Peter 2:4 (NLT) For God did not spare even the angels when they sinned; he threw them into hell, in gloomy caves and darkness until the judgment day.

8. Some sinful angels are reserved until the judgement of the great Day!

Jude 1:6 (NLT) And I remind you of the angels who did not stay within the limits of authority God gave them but left the place where they belonged. God has kept them chained in prisons of darkness, waiting for the day of judgment.

9. The Lord rebukes the fallen angels.

Jude 1:9 (NLT) But even Michael, one of the mightiest of the angels, did not dare accuse Satan of blasphemy, but simply said, “The Lord rebuke you.” (This took place when Michael was arguing with Satan about Moses’ body.)

10. Jesus sent and signified the Revelation by his angels to John.

Rev 1:1 (NLT) This is a revelation from Jesus Christ, which God gave him concerning the events that will happen soon. An angel was sent to God’s servant John so that John could share the revelation with God’s other servants.

11. There was a war in heaven and the devil & his demons lost.

Rev 12:7-9 (NLT) Then there was war in heaven. Michael and the angels under his command fought the dragon and his angels. 8 And the dragon lost the battle and was forced out of heaven. 9 This great dragon—the ancient serpent called the Devil, or Satan, the one deceiving the whole world—was thrown down to the earth with all his angels.
