Understanding your identity in Christ is very important in living your Christian life. After experiencing new life by faith, you have been made a new person spiritually! You have the same skin, the same face, the same body, but spiritually, you are a “new you”! Consider the following five verses in the Bible that help you to understand your new identity.
- You’re Alive! Ephesians 2:1-2 (NKJV) “And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience.”
- You’re a Saint! 1 Corinthians 1:2-3 (NKJV) “To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all who in every place call on the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.”
- You’re God’s Workmanship! Ephesians 2:10 (NKJV) “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”
- You’re Righteous! Romans 5:17 (NKJV) “For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.”
- You’re Accepted by God! Ephesians 1:6 (NKJV) “To the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He has made us accepted in the Beloved.”
It’s important to see yourself as God sees you! By faith, your life will continue to grow in Jesus gracefully.
It’s funny how the world conditions us to the marketing of identity. In Jusus, it’s come as you are. I have learned that if you are Spiritually dead, then your life and everything in it reflects that. When you know your identity and live daily in Him you live with the peace of knowing He’s not finished yet.
Thanks for reminding me of my true identity in Christ. Sometimes other voices from my life before Christ Jesus, when I was deaf and dead to life in Christ, shout or whisper lies. Thank you Father for opening the eyes of my heart.

It is easy to be a church pew/ benched Christian but as James tells us
we need to celebrate our salvation through works. My career involves ministry through serving special needs kids and their families and pretty worn out from though simultaneously I often sense the Lord or Holy Spirit right beside me so renewed this way.
